Shanghai Town is a relaxing puzzle game that blends classic mahjong matching with light city-building progression. Your goal is simple at first glance: match identical mahjong tiles to remove them from the board. But there is a twist. The board must be cleared in the correct order, and the final tile matters more than you think. Each successful clear helps you unlock and collect buildings that slowly turn into a complete town.

The game is easy to understand, making it friendly for beginners, yet it requires careful thinking as levels progress. How to Play

Each level presents a stack of mahjong tiles arranged in a specific pattern. You must find and select two identical free tiles to remove them. A tile is considered free when it is not blocked on both sides and has no tile on top of it. Clearing pairs opens new possibilities and reveals hidden tiles underneath.

Your main objective is to remove all tiles from the board and finish with the final valid match. Completing levels unlocks buildings that are added to your growing city. The more efficiently you play, the smoother your progress will feel.

One of the biggest misunderstandings in Shanghai Town is believing that any available match is a good match. Many players lose early because they clear tiles without thinking about what stays behind. The game rarely punishes you immediately. Instead, it quietly sets traps by locking remaining tiles under layers with no possible matches.
