ABOUT THE GAME

Rovercraft is a physics-based driving game where you design and pilot a custom rover across harsh alien landscapes. The goal is simple on paper: reach the finish line while keeping your astronaut safe. In practice, every hill, jump, and landing tests how well you understand balance, weight, and traction. Each planet introduces new terrain challenges, pushing you to rethink how your rover is built and how you drive it.

Unlike traditional racing games, Rovercraft rewards smart engineering more than raw speed. You earn resources by progressing through levels, which you can then use to upgrade wheels, engines, fuel tanks, and boosters. A poorly balanced rover can flip easily, while a well-designed one glides smoothly over obstacles. Learning how the physics reacts to your design choices is the core of the experience.

How to Play

Your main objective is to drive your rover from the start point to the end flag on each planet. Along the way, you must manage fuel, control speed, and keep the rover upright. Collecting resources during runs allows you to upgrade parts and unlock new possibilities for future levels.

Levels become more demanding over time, introducing steeper slopes, gaps, and uneven surfaces. Success depends on adapting your rover design to the environment instead of relying on a single setup.

Controls

Keyboard:

Press the right arrow key to accelerate forward
Press the left arrow key to brake or reverse
Use the up arrow key to tilt the rover forward in mid-air
Use the down arrow key to tilt the rover backward in mid-air

Mouse:

Click on parts in the garage to upgrade or replace components

Touch (Mobile):

Tap the on-screen pedals to accelerate or brake
Use on-screen tilt buttons to control the rover in the air

Tips & Strategies

Focus on balance first. A stable rover finishes more levels than a fast one.
Upgrade fuel early so you can explore the terrain without rushing.
Use mid-air tilting to land on your wheels instead of crashing.
Slow down before steep drops to avoid flipping on impact.
Adjust your build when changing planets. One setup does not fit all environments.

Many players struggle in Rovercraft because they treat it like a racing game. Speed feels important early on, but it quickly becomes the reason most runs fail. The biggest mistake is over-upgrading the engine before improving stability or fuel capacity. This leads to powerful rovers that flip constantly or run out of fuel halfway through a level.

What separates average players from good ones is patience. Experienced players drive slower, especially on unknown terrain. They test how slopes behave and use small throttle adjustments instead of holding acceleration. Another overlooked detail is mid-air control. Tilting the rover before landing often saves a run that would otherwise end in a crash. Mastering these small decisions makes later planets far more manageable.
